FAQ
Microblading is a form of permanent makeup but, rather than using a traditional tattoo machine, we use a manual hand tool to create individual hair strokes, the results are extremely natural and almost undetectable from your own hairs. You may have heard other terms such as ‘3D brows, Phibrows, brow embroidery, however, the only real difference is the use of of microblading tool rather than machine.
At Noir Clinic we want you to have the perfect brows for your face, so every treatment is specifically tailored to you.
During the initial consultation, we will walk you through our treatment plan and give you an idea of how to improve your eyebrows, whether we are enhancing sparse, thin brows or giving them a completely new look. Brows can have such a positive impact on your face and we appreciate that this is a big step for some of our clients, our Microblading treatments in London will enhance your features and save you valuable time and money every day.
At the consultation, we will ask you about the look you would like to achieve and also advise you on the brow that will best suit your face shape and lifestyle.
At the time of your appointment, we will apply a topical anaesthetic for around 30 minutes to numb the top layers of the skin, making you as comfortable as possible. During this time a custom colour will be mixed to perfectly match your brow/hair colour.
We will then create the ‘template’ by drawing on your new brow shape with a pencil – we love your input at this stage of the process to make sure that you are happy with the overall look of the brows. Once you and the technician are happy with the template then the microblading will begin. Individual hair strokes are created within the new template using the custom blended pigment. We will apply pigment to each brow 2/3 times.
The final stage is the control session which is around 6 weeks after your first treatment, this session is to make any tweaks to the colour or shape and add in any brow strokes that didn’t take.
Most of our clients ask what microblading feels like, we would describe microblading as a little ‘scratchy’ rather than painful. We use a topical and secondary anaesthetic to keep you really comfortable, most people don’t feel much at all once the secondary anaesthetic is applied. We do recommend that you try to avoid having a treatment if you are pre-menstrual as the skin is far more sensitive during this time. Also avoid drinking alcohol the day before, and caffeine just before your appointment.
The majority of our clients appear entirely natural following the treatment. However, individuals prone to rosacea or with highly sensitive skin may experience a temporary redness around the treated area for a few hours post-session, though this typically subsides swiftly. In fact, most people comfortably return to their regular activities immediately after the session.
Your brows will go through a number of changes as you heal, they will appear a little darker around day 4/5 and then fade during the second week, this is due to the pigment being ‘hidden’ by the healing skin and is nothing to worry about. During the 3rd week, the colour will bloom back and by week 4 you will have your healed result. You should expect some light shedding but nothing more and you will lose around 30% of the pigment after your first treatment which will be reapplied at your control session.
The results are extremely natural and will last around 12 - 18 months before a refresh session is needed.
We allocate 2:30 hours for your treatment which includes time to apply your anaesthetic and create your template, the actual microblading takes around 45 minutes.
Microblading is a great option for almost anyone looking for a hyper-realistic brow. It is perfect for those looking to fill out over plucked or sparse brows or anyone who has Alopecia or hair loss following chemotherapy. Other options such as hair stoke brows/powder brow may be better if you are extremely oily or have a medical condition that would not suit microblading. We will advise you on which option would be best for you.
Please note, we are unable to treat you if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have auto immune conditions. Please get in touch for a consultation if you have any questions.
Eyebrow lamination is a cosmetic treatment that smooths and sets your eyebrow hairs in place, giving them a fuller and more uniform appearance. The process involves using a chemical solution to relax the hairs, followed by shaping them to the desired style. It's particularly popular for those with unruly, thinning, or uneven brows, as it helps create a more defined and polished look. The results can last between 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle.
On average, eyebrow lamination lasts between 6 to 8 weeks. The longevity of the results depends on factors such as your hair growth rate and how well you care for your brows post-treatment. To prolong the effects, it's important to avoid water, oils, and excessive rubbing on your brows for the first 24 hours. Aftercare also includes brushing the brows regularly to maintain their shape and using a nourishing oil to keep the hair hydrated. Frequent touch-ups are recommended for consistent results, especially as your brow hair grows out naturally.
Yes, eyebrow lamination is generally safe when performed by a trained and experienced technician. However, as with any beauty treatment, there are some risks, particularly for those with sensitive skin. It's common to do a patch test before the procedure to rule out any allergic reactions to the chemical solutions used. Some people may experience mild irritation or redness, but these side effects are temporary. If you have any existing skin conditions or concerns, it’s always best to consult with a professional before booking the treatment.
When done correctly, eyebrow lamination should not cause significant damage to your brows. However, the treatment involves chemical solutions that can weaken the hair if overused. It's essential to follow the recommended frequency for lamination—typically once every 6 to 8 weeks—to avoid over-processing the hairs. Additionally, using nourishing oils and proper aftercare can help keep your brow hair healthy. If you're worried about potential damage, talk to your technician about your concerns before proceeding.
After getting your eyebrows laminated, it’s crucial to avoid getting them wet for at least 24 hours. This includes staying away from steam, sweat, and oils that could interfere with the setting process. Additionally, avoid touching or rubbing your brows to prevent altering their shape. Use a gentle, non-oily cleanser around the brow area when washing your face. To keep the results looking their best, avoid harsh skincare products on the brows and brush them daily with a spoolie to maintain their shape.
A lash lift is a semi-permanent treatment that enhances the natural curl and length of your lashes by lifting them from the base. It’s an alternative to eyelash extensions, as it doesn’t involve applying false lashes but rather works with your natural lashes to give them a more lifted and voluminous look. The process uses a chemical solution to set the lashes in a curled position, and it can be customised to achieve a subtle or dramatic lift, depending on your preference. Results typically last 6 to 8 weeks.
A lash lift usually lasts between 6 to 8 weeks, depending on your lash growth cycle. Over time, new lashes grow in and the lifted ones naturally shed, which causes the effect to fade. To prolong the results, avoid using waterproof mascara, oil-based products, or excessive rubbing of your eyes, as these can weaken the lift. Some clients choose to get touch-ups every 6 to 8 weeks to maintain the lifted appearance as their natural lashes grow out.
Yes, lash lifts are generally considered safe for your natural lashes when done by a qualified technician. The chemicals used in the process are formulated to be gentle, and there is minimal risk of damage if the treatment is applied correctly. However, over-processing your lashes by getting lifts too frequently could lead to brittle or weakened lashes. Most experts recommend waiting at least 6 to 8 weeks between treatments. Proper aftercare, such as avoiding oil-based products and using lash serums, can help keep your lashes healthy.
Yes, you can wear mascara after a lash lift, but it's best to wait 48 hours after the treatment to avoid disturbing the results. For a more enhanced look, using a water-based mascara is recommended, as it won't weigh down the lifted lashes or interfere with the treatment. Waterproof mascaras should be avoided, as they can be difficult to remove and may cause the lashes to lose their curl prematurely. With a lash lift, many people find they don’t need mascara because their lashes already look longer and fuller.
After a lash lift, it’s important to avoid getting your lashes wet for the first 24 to 48 hours. This includes avoiding steam, sweat, and oil-based makeup or skincare products around the eye area. Be gentle when cleansing your face, and avoid rubbing your eyes or lashes. Additionally, avoid using waterproof mascara, as it can be harsh on your lashes. To maintain the results, you can use a lash serum to condition and nourish your lashes, which helps keep them strong and healthy after the treatment.
